On the painting can be found details from the Garden of Earthly Delights, The Last Judgement and the Haywain.

On the outside of the side panels is a severely damaged Crowning with Thorns in gristly (99 x 60). According Unverfehrt is the manner of painting, composition and size not entirely in the style of Bosch, but it comes from the school/workshop of Bosch.

Before 1906 owned by E. Gravet in Paris, than went to Seligman in Paris and was subsequently purchased by August Bernard in 1907 and donated to the city of Bruges.
