In the Escorial you can find a nearly similar painting. A difference with the painting in the Escorial is that the face of the person on the left side of the horse has changed into a red ball!

'Pieter Huys has painted this subject very often. This painting is related to the Temptation of St. Anthony from the Louvre, which is signed and dated 1547. H.B Whele and M. Saliger compare it with a painting from the Cels collection in Brussels, which has passed into the J. Mayer collection in New York. These authors consider that the Brussels painting is derived from it, but that it is somewhat younger.'
