The Last Judgment triptych in the Gemäldegalerie of the Vienna Akademie der bildenden Künste, attributed to Jheronimus Bosch, belonged to the collection of count Lamberg-Sprinzenstein (legacy to the museum in 1822). The only further thing that can be considered certain is that the count must have received or bought the triptych before 1815. The pedigree here presented by Lambrechts-Gey, going back to the second half of the sixteenth century (Rudolf II – Ferdinand II – Leopold Wilhelm – Leopold I – Maria Theresia) is only based on assumptions and on doubtful interpretations of archival sources.
