Friedländer writes in a letter in a letter dated 17 November 1945: 'I believe in an original, but in a mediocre condition'.

The painting is related to the eponymous paintings in the National Museum in Warsaw (67 x 71) in the Action House Palais Galliéra in Paris (72 x 53,5), Christies in New York 1998 and Czuczka-collection in Geneva and Montreal (both 72,5 x 99) in 1998, private collections of Dr. Von Frey in Lucerne (Luzern) , and Art Trade Smith in London (partly) and with an unknown privately in Cologne.

Belonged successively to the collection of H. Röder in Hamburg, Rothman in London (1934), Galerie Sanct Lucas in Vienna (1934), Perser in Berlin (1939) and Curt Benedict in Paris (1945) and Rosenthal in Paris (1946). was auctioned in 1928 at Sotheby's in London and in 1934 Rothmann Art Gallery in London and then Galerie Santa Lucas in Vienna. In 1946, the art dealer Rosenthal is mentioned in Paris. After that it was auctioned in 1956 at Charpentier in Paris and at Palais Gallera in Paris on December 11, 1963, lot 11. Also auctioned by Sotheby, Parke-Bernet in New York on January 22, 1976, lot no. 162 and on March 11, 1977, lot no. 95. Last known Auction at Christies in New York on November 25, 1998, lot no. 115.
