There is a dozen similar compositions of Followers known, for example: National Gallery in Dublin, Christies in London in 2001, 2003, 2004, 2007 and 2012, Museum of Fine Arts in Tournai, in the Dorotheum in Vienna, at Art Trade Hampel in Munich, at the auction of Kornfeld and Klipstein in Bern and with an unknown private collection in Brussels.
History:
On 7/8 december 1960, lot no. 516, as a Gillis Mostaert, auctioned at Weinmuller in Munich and made before 1980 part of a private collection in London. In 2000 signaled at Art Dealer Axel Vervoordt in's-Gravenwezel (Schilde) and auctioned on 20 February 2008, also as a Gillis Mostaert, at Jean-Claude Renard in Paris.
