History:
Owned by Don Infante Sebastián Gabriel Borbón y Braganza until 1902, then with Emile Pacully in Paris, who sold his collection to Galerie Georges Petit in Paris on 5 April 1903 as a Jheronimus Bosch. On July 5, 1938, the collection was sold through the Hôtel Drouot in Paris (attributed to JB), presumably to Art Dealers Duveen Brorthers, who sold it to an unknown private owner (Fowles?) In New York. Acquired at an unknown date by DE Evans in London. In 1967 it was acquired by Princess Kadjar in Baytown, Texas and subsequently sold at two auctions by Christies in London to an anonymous buyer, for the first time on June 21, 1968 and for the second time on July 9, 2003, lot no. 25 (from Bosch's workshop) .
