History:
The last known private owner is probably the banker and art collector Albert Figdor (1843 – 1927), whose collection on 29 and 30 September 1930 in Berlin and Vienna by Helbing is auctioned. This painting under lot no. 61. This auction is including the Peddler ended up with Goudstikker. It is only by Brand-Philip 1958, nr. 93 on the existence of this painting. The painting is based on the painting in the Prado. Virtually identical copies can be found in the Musée Benoit de Puydt in Bailleul, at the auction in 1930 by Helbing in Berlin, at the auction by Christies in London (1983) and New York (2004) and in the Noordbrabants Museum in's-Hertogenbosch.
