Almost identical to copy in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam (loaned to the Catharijneconvent in Utrecht) and in the Museum Mayer van den Berg in Antwerp. The painting seems to have been shortened on all sides.
Also called 'Shrove Tuesday'.

History:
Before 1933 the painting was property of a German collector. Belonged in 1933 to the collection of Haro (fils) and was auctioned in 1938 by Arthur van de Heuvel in Brussels as a Jan Mandijn. In 1978 signaled in a private collection in Germany till on 6 June 1991, lot no. 62 was auctioned at the Dorotheum in Vienna, where it still was attributed as a Jan Mandijn.
