Larry Silver (graduated from Harvard University in 1974) was born in 1947. He is Farquhar Professor of Art History at the University of Pennsylvania and previously taught at Berkeley and Northwestern. He specializes in painting and graphics from Northern Europe, particularly from Germany and the Netherlands, for the period of the Renaissance and the Reformation. He was chairman of the Historians of Netherlandish Art and of the College Art Association. Larry Silver published several articles on Bosch, collaborated on books and exhibition catalogues on Bosch, and in 2006 he published the monograph Hieronymus Bosch, which was also translated into French and German.
