The painting is based on the painting 'The Adoration' in the Prado in Madrid. About 20 comparable compositions have been painted by 'Navolgers'. See also Friedländer 1927, No. 68d. (Almost) identical to the painting by the Shepherd Brothers in London (82 x 74)
History:
From 1921 at E. Biquon in Paris and 7/8 July 1926, lot no. 4 as a Jheronimus Bosch sold at art dealer Weber in Brussels. On November 20, 1937 owned by art dealer Robert Langton Douglas in London and in 1938 to Boström in Stockholm
