Origin: Already in 1593 in El Escorial present. The painting was listed on a list of artifacts, by Philip II in 1593 shipped to El Escorial.
The composition is similar to some 15 images of Followers, including the eponymous painting in the Philadelphia Museum of Art or the Central panel of the Triptych Passion in Museo de Belles Artes de Valencia.
