In the Philadelphia Museum of Art you can see a similar composition.

Unverfehrt attributes the painting to a Dutch/Leiden master (ca. 1500 – 1510), who was influenced by Hieronymus Bosch and whom he calls the 'Master of the Diptych from Valenciennes'.

History:

In 1937 it was in the art dealership or collection of Knapf in Würzburg, then ended up in Dublin, perhaps first at TF Geoghegan and then at Mgr. John Shine, who sold it to the Museum in 1955.
