Private collection Peter Elias de Witte, Bruges / Florence Most likely, the tapestry weaver Peter Elias de Witte [Pietro d'Elia Candido], father of Peter de Witte (I) [Pietro di Pietro Candido], numbered the folia from 1 to 147. He provided it album also of two inscriptions. Where de Witte acquired the album is unclear (Volk-Knüttel 2010, p. 13). 1547 - 1576 Peter Elias de Witte was active between about 1547 and 1576 (Volk-Knüttel 2010, p. 17). It is unclear when he received the album. private collection Gabriel Weyer, Nuremberg Gabriel Weyer most likely acquired the album in Germany before or in the year 1602, as he fol. 140v 1602 (Bevers 1998). The sketchbook may have ended up in Germany through Peter de Witte (I), son of Peter Elias de Witte, who was appointed court painter in Munich in 1586 (Daan van Heesch 2013-11-01). 1602 - 1632 ca.1602-1632 (year of Weyer 's death) Kupferstichkabinett der Staatlichen Museen zu Berlin, Berlin, inv./cat.nr 79 C 2, fol. 62r The Antwerp Sketchbook came into the possession of the Berlin Kupferstichkabinett at an unknown moment in the nineteenth century (Bevers 1998).
