The composition is based on the painting in the Musée Municipal in St. Germain-en-Laye and is (partially) similar to paintings in the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Dorotheum in Vienna and with an unknown collection in California. Similar compositions on drawings can be found in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, the Louvre in Paris and the The Staatliche Graphische Sammlung in Munich.

History:

First observed in an unknown private collection in Paris. Then, at an unknown date, ended up with art dealer Dr. R. Heinemann in Munich. In 1967 privately owned by Oliver O. Ostier in New York, who bequeathed it to the Israel Museum in 1977.
