Two-sided; on the other side can be seen 'Helmet and shield'.

The drawing is similar to the painting 'Death of the miser' in The National Gallery in Washington.

According to Koreny (2012), the artist is the same as the painter of the Haywain in the Prado.

Date unknown in private possession of Nicolas Prince Esterhazy. Then at Comte de Robiano. In 1926 came into the possession of Antonius WM Mensing at an unknown auction in Amsterdam. Mensing donated it to the Louvre in Paris on an unknown date.
