History: In possession of Baron Dominique Vivant-Denon (1747-1825). Auctioned on 1-19 May 1826 lot 593 by M. Masson St Maurice and in possession of Charles Fairfax Murphy (1849-1919). Acquired by Nicolaas Beets at Auction by Christies on Jan. 30 – Feb. 2 1920 lot 87 and sold to the Museum.
