“The Garden of Love. A Neoplatonic interpretation of Bosch’s ‘Garden of Earthly Delights’ triptych” (Madeleine Bergman) 1990

Bergman tries to re-interpret Bosch’s Garden of Delights triptych (which according to her should be called The Garden of Love) through the Neoplatonic hermetism that was fashionable in Europe around 1500. Her interpretation makes use of quite a lot of alchemical and astrological elements.
Bergman’s analysis contains so many observational errors, Hineininterpretierungen and hypothetical assertments that her syncretistic argument does not sound convincing at all.
