“Een doemdenker van toen – Nieuwe visies op Jeroen Bosch” (Eric De Bruyn) 1982
[in: Knack, vol. 12, nr. 2 (13th January 1982), pp. 181-186]
This article offers the reader a survey of recent Bosch approaches. Attention is paid to those authors who consider Bosch a heretic (Fraenger, Reuterswärd, Mettra), to the sociological apporach of Bax and others (Gibson, Steemers, Marijnissen, father Gerlach) who view Bosch as a moralist and satirist, to authors who think Bosch is a doom-monger (Snyder, Rowlands), to the alchemical approach (Combe, Holländer), to the method of poly-interpretability (Linfert, Merten, Orienti, De Solier) and to the renewed focus on Bosch’s style.
