In the late Middle Ages there was a mutual influence between the Netherlands and the Rhineland in many fields. Gerlach gives some examples of this. Because of these mutual relations it can easily be understood that the ‘German’ Lucas Cranach produced a copy of a Last Judgment after Hieronymus Bosch (Vienna) and that the master of ’s-Hertogenbosch was linked to the Master of the Ursula Legend in Cologne.
