During the examination of paintings the scholar of natural sciences should heed the information provided to him by art historians. Neither of them should shy away from mutual check-ups.
In an oblique remark Gerlach signals that according to him the London Crowning with Thorns and the Ghent Carrying of the Cross should no longer be regarded as authentic Bosch works for stylistic reasons.
