Seidel discusses the copy of Bosch’s Adoration of the Magi triptych (Prado) in Berlin (Staatliche Museen) and the copy of the interior panels of Bosch’s Last Judgement triptych (Vienna) by Lucas Cranach, also in Berlin (Staatliche Museen). Examination of the (lime)wood and of the painting technique has revealed that the Cranach copy was produced around 1520-25. The Adoration of the Magi copy was probably produced around 1550 for the free art market. The Cranach copy was undoubtedly commissioned by an unknown patron.
