This composition is not copied from an existing work, but rather assembled as a pastiche of elements from works by Bosch and his imitators, even with the addition of a trompe-l'oeil engraved frame to make it look like an authentic triptych. Two drawings related to the side panels are in Princeton University Art Museum, inv.nos.58-65 and 58-66 (these are now considered to be copies after the engraving).
